Jess and Troy were just the happiest, most welcoming and stoked couple to photograph! Keen outdoors people, Wanaka was such a stunning setting for their autumn wedding. Troy looked like the cat who got the cream from the moment he saw Jess walking up the aisle. The wind just settled enough for a helicopter trip to the Lake Peninsula where the last sunlight over the lake and mountains (and all to ourselves) was just mind-blowingly perfect. You couldn't find a happier couple; and couple of photographers!
Baylee and Georgia were married on the lake front of Iveagh Bay, Moana, West Coast. Baylee is a keen fisherman so it was the perfect spot for their wedding. We loved the incredible views, sassy kids, fishing banter and most importantly these two high-school sweethearts had such a beautiful, genuine love. We are both born and bred Coasters and it's crazy how we sometimes need a reminder like this of just how stunning our home really is!
We were blown away by the natural beauty and serenity of this stunning wedding at Mesopotamia Station. The name Mesopotamia originates from the Middle East and means ‘the land between two rivers’. Rach is an incredible artist and her creative eye picked out such stunning details to compliment the incredible Canterbury setting. Rach and Matt had their wedding ceremony in a beautiful, old (by New Zealand standards!) stone church and then headed out to Mesopotamia Station for their rocking reception. Weddings on NZ sheep stations; we love you!
When Kim and Jonny asked us to join them to photograph their wedding on family property in Golden Bay we were stoked! They were married on a beautiful balmy day overlooking Pohara to one side and Tata Beach to the other. Kim did a beautiful job of arranging a barn on the property as the reception venue and it was the perfect night for a dancefloor under the stars. These guys were so calm and relaxed, it was a pinch-ourselves-that-this-is-our-job kind of day! Featuring stunning views, the cutest puppy called Nana, gorgeous people and our favourite new dance move 'The Fran' (it will soon catch on we know it!).
Gen and Tom had the most wonderful Lake Tekapo wedding! It was a day filled with love, laughter, epic landscapes, the ever cute Church of the Good Shepherd and more lupin flowers than you could ever count. Gen was such a gorgeous, calm and collected bride, especially as they were getting pretty close to welcoming their baby girl! Oh, and her maid of honor gave birth the following week!
Bella and Dave were married at their family bach, on the glorious golden sand beach of Awaroa, bordering Abel Tasman National Park. You have three options to get to Awaroa, walk the Abel Tasman, by boat or by air, so organising a wedding in this incredible place was no mean feat! We loved the way this wedding turned into a three day party, with a welcome bbq the night before, the wedding day and a post-wedding brunch guests could really kick back and enjoy their escape to paradise. The details, food, music and speeches were all top quality to match the people and place and we really didn't want to leave the following morning!
We love weddings because we love seeing people commit in marriage. We love the emotions; excitement, joy, hope, overwhelm- be it a celebration of two-hundred, twenty, or in this case, two. When Kirsten and Dave got in touch and told us about their elopement we were super honoured to join them to capture the beautiful promises they made to each other and spend such a special day with them as they celebrated their love and commitment. Confetti, champagne and cake in Canvastown turns out to be a pretty wonderful way to start married life!
We were lucky enough to photograph Lisa and Roy tie the knot on the stunning Tutukaka Coast one lovely November day. Featuring coastal views, flowers galore, a marque wonderland and a rocking dance floor. These two put together such a relaxed and beautiful wedding day and have an amazing bunch of family and friends; we loved every part of it.
Christy and Krissy had a morning wedding that was true to them and what they enjoy; they are big lovers of board games so their lunchtime reception consisted of chilled groups of family and friends mingling as they played all sorts of fun games! We then got to head up the Port Hills at golden hour and watch the sun go down to complete a wonderful day.
This was our first trip to the Hokianga and we fell head over heels for this perfect little corner of New Zealand. Terèse and Jaden made us feel like part of the family with their relaxed wedding weekend. There was wharf jumping, delicious food (including brownie wedding cake!!), chilling to Fat Freddy's drop and so much laughter and joy. Terèse and Jaden also showed up every couple ever with their super smooth dance moves, it even got Nana waving glowsticks on the dance floor!
New Zealand has some truly incredible spots for weddings, and Golden Bay is right up there! Kristen and William were married up a short bush walk on a beautiful, golden-sand beach; with the sound of waves, birdsong and the most enthusiastic cicadas we've ever heard. The reception followed at Zatori Retreat, where we could all watch the sun creep down over tranquil water and Collingwood's rugged hill backdrop. We are lucky enough to experience some pretty special wedding days; and this was definitely one of them!
We have the biggest love for Lake Rotoiti (St Arnaud) so it is always SUCH a pleasure to photograph a wedding there! Ali and Matt had their ceremony in the lakeside Rotoiti Chapel, followed by drinks on the shore and their fairy-light lit reception at the quirky Outdoor Education Lodge. With friends and family from all over, it was a great idea to share one of their favourite New Zealand spots with people who had travelled from near and far to celebrate with them.
Kim and Gareth held one of our favourite weddings ever at Lancewood Villa near Nelson. It was super relaxed and packed full of fun. They made the best range of backyard games ever (including Corn Hole which you should probably go and play right now!), had delicious food carts for dinner, homebrewed most of the bar, and had some of the happiest guests we have had the pleasure to photograph. If we reimagined our wedding day, I think it would turn out a lot like this!
Shivonne and James had a gorgeous spring wedding, they were super relaxed and it was a real joy to join them for their special day. Featuring beautiful muted bouquets, an excellent brides-man, the cutest-bacon-loving-flowergirl, the best brownie ever and a whole lot of laughter!
Ash and Suzy were married on a stunning Christchurch spring day at the ever wonderful Trents Vineyard. It was a day full of magical little moments and we were so stoked to be able to capture it for them.
